# BIOS and cartridge-content rights

The emulator source code and the included BIOS/cartridge images are separate works.

Most BIOS and `.vec` files in this generated solution came from the archives supplied for this conversion. Their presence in the project is **not** a representation that they are public domain, licensed for public redistribution, or safe to publish from a public Azure application.

`BUGS.vec` is the specific exception documented by this project: it was supplied by its author, **Sean Findley**, for inclusion and deployment as Vectrexia's featured startup game. That permission does not establish rights to any other BIOS or cartridge image and does not automatically grant third parties a separate redistribution license outside this project.

Before deploying this build to an audience beyond people already authorized to use the remaining files, confirm that you own each asset or have permission to host and transmit it. Filename labels such as `(PD)` are preserved as catalog metadata only and are not legal verification.

To remove or replace content, update the source directory and rerun `tools/import-roms.py`; the generated catalog records a SHA-256 digest and a conservative rights-status note for each asset.
## Original Vectrex packaging images

Release 37 includes 32 historical Vectrex box-front scans sourced from the public `libretro-thumbnails/GCE_-_Vectrex` repository's `Named_Boxarts` collection. Vectrexia converts those source PNG scans to locally hosted WebP files and creates separate 240-pixel WebP thumbnails. The images are authentic scans, not AI-generated or recreated packaging.

The project does **not** claim ownership of the packaging artwork, game names, logos, trade dress, or trademarks, and the public source repository does not supply a blanket commercial license for every scan. The images are included for historical identification, preservation, and catalog presentation. Confirm the rights required for your intended deployment or redistribution, particularly for commercial use. Remove an image if a rightsholder requests it.

`wwwroot/images/vectrex-box-art/manifest.json` preserves the original source filename, repository path, source URL, image dimensions, and SHA-256 hashes for each converted file. The separate image archive includes `ATTRIBUTION.md` and the same manifest. Runtime pages serve local optimized copies and do not hotlink third-party image hosts.
