Development and history

Armor Attack began as a 1981 Cinematronics vector arcade game designed by Tim Skelly. GCE brought it to Vectrex in 1982, and the Vectrex Game Database credits Duncan Muirhead with programming the console version.

This preserved hack adapts the Armor Attack control scheme for spinner or rotary input. The underlying game remains Duncan Muirhead’s Vectrex conversion of Tim Skelly’s arcade design, while the input modification is a later community change.

This page groups 2 ROM editions under one stable URL instead of creating duplicate search pages for alternate dumps or revisions. The primary edition loads automatically; the other editions remain available in the in-app library.

Gameplay and background

Control a jeep through city streets while fighting tanks and helicopters. The maze and enemy approach angles reward constant movement, rotation, and careful use of fire. Two-player support is alternating rather than simultaneous. This edition changes the experience through its spinner-control hack behavior.

How to play in Vectrexia

  • Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
  • Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
  • Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.

Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
