Development and history
VGDB lists VPong as a 1998 Chris Salomon release. Vectrexia’s ROM set names the title Vectrex Pong, so the page records both identities for search and preservation purposes.
Pong-style projects are common development milestones because they test input, collision, timing, and score rendering. On Vectrex, the analog joystick also makes paddle movement more nuanced than a purely digital implementation.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
Move the paddle to return the ball and outlast the opponent. A second controller may be used by builds that support head-to-head play; analog stick movement provides the intended continuous positioning.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
