Development and history
Mark Indictor designed and coded the Vectrex title that was sold as Star Ship and, under license, Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The two names represent regional or licensing presentations of the same core program rather than unrelated games.
The title uses a first-person tactical display with enemy ships, instruments, and weapons. It also belongs to the small set of original Vectrex games with a pause function, reflecting Indictor’s attention to a more simulation-like interface.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
Track enemy craft through the forward view, manage weapons and movement, and use the instrument display to stay oriented. The pace is more deliberate than a fixed-screen shooter, rewarding target acquisition and control familiarity.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
