Development and history

Hyperchase was one of the 1982 Vectrex launch-era releases. The Vectrex Game Database credits Chris King, while Vectrex histories also associate Jeff Corsiglia with the design and production of the game.

Its forward-facing road view shows how effectively sparse vectors can suggest speed and depth. Instead of drawing a detailed landscape, Hyperchase uses converging road edges, roadside markers, and oncoming cars to create a focused racing illusion.

This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.

Gameplay and background

Steer around traffic and stay off the road edges while building speed. One mode emphasizes completing the course quickly with unlimited cars, while another gives a limited stock of cars and focuses on score.

How to play in Vectrexia

  • Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
  • Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
  • Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.

Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
