Development and history

Web Warp and Web Wars are regional names for the same 1983 Vectrex game. The Vectrex Game Database credits Bill Hawkins, Duncan Muirhead, and Patrick King, making it one of the more visibly collaborative original titles.

The game uses the portrait display to create a deep web or tunnel populated by geometric enemies. Its abstract design is closely tied to vector graphics: objects can scale, rotate, and approach without needing the sprites or backgrounds of a raster game.

This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.

Gameplay and background

Move the aiming cursor through the web, fire at incoming creatures, and collect or protect the required objects as the pace increases. Depth cues come from vector scaling, so keeping track of threats at different distances is central to play.

How to play in Vectrexia

  • Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
  • Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
  • Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.

Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
