Development and history
Vector Vaders Remix was released in 1999 after John Dondzila had several more years of Vectrex programming experience. VGDB lists it separately from the 1996 original.
The remix is useful for comparing generations of homebrew technique. Faster routines, improved graphics, and reduced flicker show the optimization skills that authors developed while working within the same 6809, VIA, and vector-display limits.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
The core fixed-shooter loop remains recognizable: move, fire, use cover, and stop the formation before it reaches the bottom. The remix emphasizes smoother, faster action.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
