Development and history
Gravitrex Plus was released by John Dondzila in 2002 as a 64 KB bank-switched cartridge. Packrat describes six worlds, multiple modes, speech, passwords, remappable controls, and bundled bonus material.
The design draws from Atari’s vector arcade game Gravitar but adds rescue objectives and other changes. Its scale shows how far homebrew development had progressed from the 8 KB cartridges typical of the original Vectrex era.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
Use rotation and thrust to enter planetary landscapes, destroy enemy bunkers, manage fuel and gravity, and rescue human captives before destroying each world. Precision is more important than constant firing because momentum can carry the ship into terrain.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
