Development and history
Pole Position was a major Namco arcade racing game, and GCE licensed it for Vectrex during the original commercial period. The VGDB does not identify the programmer of the Vectrex conversion, so the console credit remains listed as unknown.
This community version maps Pole Position to spinner or rotary steering. The base Vectrex port remains an official Namco-licensed release, while the later controller adaptation has no separately documented programmer credit in the sources used here.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
Qualify by completing a lap within the time limit, then race through traffic while avoiding collisions and staying on course. Analog joystick movement works well for steering, while the buttons control acceleration and related race actions. This edition changes the experience through its spinner-control hack behavior.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
