Development and history
Heads Up Action Soccer was released in 1983 and followed Blitz! as GCE’s second major sports title for Vectrex. The Vectrex Game Database does not identify a programmer, so this page leaves that credit explicitly unknown rather than guessing.
The game is an ambitious use of the Vectrex because it presents a horizontally scrolling pitch rather than a single static arena. It supports both computer opposition and simultaneous head-to-head play through a second controller.
This page uses one stable canonical URL for the title and loads its embedded ROM directly into the emulator after the Vectrex BIOS is ready.
Gameplay and background
Control one of three field players plus the goalkeeper, pass or shoot on offense, and switch the active defender when possession changes. Matches run in timed halves, with sudden-death overtime used to break ties.
How to play in Vectrexia
- Move with the Arrow keys or WASD. Compatible controllers can use the left analog stick or D-pad.
- Vectrex buttons 1–4 map to Z, X, C, and V, and to the standard face buttons on most gamepads.
- Press a controller button after connecting it so the browser can expose the gamepad to the page.
Audio may begin after the first click, key press, or controller input because browsers can restrict autoplay.
